Find time for your well-being and enjoy "Me Time"

Living in a fast paced world has never been so real. We’re all busy. All the time.

Whether it’s responsibilities at home or at work, many of us focus so much on doing it all, that we forget to focus on ourselves. As a consequence, our stress levels increase and we put at risk our well-being.

In this article, we want to share with you some ideas that will help you explore your creativity and hence lower your stress levels and improve your mood.

1. Use your hands! Do a pottery course.

Being involved in any meaningful creative task that requires using your hands, according to physician-writer team Carrie and Alton Barron, can help elevate your mood, stimulate your senses, and foster internal well-being.

2. Write in a journal.

Write about your feelings and emotions related to an event, circumstance or season of life. Express YOURSELF! Journaling freely can create a sense of “flow”. As per Wikipedia, “the flow is the mental state in which a person performing some activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity”.

3. Color some mandalas.

It is another activity that has hundreds of healing and relaxation effects on the body. According to Harvard doctor Dr. Herbert Benson, coloring mandalas leads to a relaxation response due to repetitive movement that require us to put aside thoughts that arise and return to the point of focus or repetition.

4. Learn how to knit!

Knitters and crocheters know that their craft offers stress relief, and those who do it frequently also reported higher cognitive functioning. Studies show that being in a group of fellow knitters can improve social contact and communication with others, which is linked to improved mood and brain health.

We encourage you to incorporate more creativity into your life. Let’s find the time for ourselves and put our well-being as a priority!
